If you've read about what an eCommerce audit is and why it matters, the next question is usually: okay, but what do I actually check on my site?
Here's a practical, step-by-step checklist you can work through yourself.
Homepage
Is it obvious within 5 seconds what you sell and who it's for?
Does it guide visitors toward your bestsellers or key categories?
Are your value props (delivery, returns, guarantees) visible without scrolling?
Product Pages
Do product descriptions answer real buyer questions, not just list features?
Are images/videos good enough to replace an in-person look at the product?
Is stock availability and delivery time clear?
Conversion Path
Where do people drop off — homepage, product page, cart, or checkout?
Is your site speed slowing people down before they even get to decide?
Are calls-to-action clear and consistent throughout the journey?
Trust
Are reviews visible on product pages, not just buried on a separate page?
Is your returns policy easy to find and easy to understand?
Do you have any social proof (press, testimonials, user-generated content)?
Checkout
How many steps does it take to complete a purchase?
Are shipping costs shown early, not just at the final step?
Is guest checkout available, or are people forced to create an account?
What to Do With What You Find
The point of this checklist isn't to fix everything at once — it's to identify your biggest opportunity first. Pick the one area costing you the most conversions, fix that, then move to the next.
